Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the Minister of Public Works to review the fees required for any registration, permit, license, certificate or other document issued under the Act and reduce or remove such fees.

An Act to Amend Chapter 293
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Motor Vehicle Act,
Respecting Fees

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Giving Families a Break Act.

2 Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Motor Vehicle Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 302 the following Section:

    302A Within six months of the coming into force of this Section, the Minister shall

    (a) review the fees required for any registration, permit, license, certificate or other document issued under this Act; and

    (b) reduce or remove such fees for the purpose of lowering costs for Nova Scotian families.
