2011-12-09_5109_SR: Ruling on motion to recommit

HON. CHRISTOPHER D'ENTREMONT: Mr. Speaker, I want to move that the Bill No. 102 motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word "That" and substituting the following therefore:

"Bill No. 102, An Act to Prevent Unnecessary Labour Disruptions and Protect the Economy by Amending Chapter 475 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Trade Union Act, be not now read a third Time but that the Order be discharged and the Bill be recommitted [sic] the Committee of the Whole House on Bills."

MR. SPEAKER: The honourable Government House Leader.

2011-11-02_3086_SS:Unparliamentary language

MR. ALLAN MACMASTER: Mr. Speaker, I never got a chance to meet my father's father, my grandfather, because he passed away before I was born, but he was a Gaelic speaker. I have no doubt that if he had heard this talk of this Augean stable, he would say that it was only a pile of cach.

MR. SPEAKER: I would advise the member for Inverness to be very careful with his language. I'm assuming that "cach" is a lot like "dung," so we'll move on.

MR. MACMASTER: Yes, Mr. Speaker, you're quite accurate in your assessment.

2011-11-02_3058_SS: Tabling and props

MR. YOUNGER: Yet one thing was installed properly - the sign with the names of the minister and the Premier on it, with a version of the NDP election slogan. (Interruptions) I'll table that.

MR. SPEAKER: Order, please. I understand you're tabling that. You can't hold it up in the manner of using it as a prop in the House, please. Just table it and continue on and ask the minister your question.

2011-05-03_1638_SS: Petition format

MR. SPEAKER: The motion is that the House now rise to meet again tomorrow at the hour of 2:00 p.m.

Before I go to the moment of interruption, it was brought to my attention by my staff that they noticed a page that was included in a petition yesterday by the member for Richmond, on behalf of the member for Clare, was photocopied, which is not permitted under our practices.

I have directed that the one page be removed from the petition but the rest of the petition remains tabled.
