Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Notaries and Commissioners Act to authorize all persons holding a valid funeral director's licence to administer oaths and take and receive affidavits, declarations and affirmations in Nova Scotia for use within Nova Scotia.

An Act to Amend Chapter 312
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Notaries and Commissioners Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 312 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Notaries and Commissioners Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 13A the following Section:

13B Every funeral director holding a valid funeral director's licence, issued in accordance with the Embalmers and Funeral Directors Act, is authorized to administer oaths and take and receive affidavits, declarations and affirmations within the Province for use within the Province.

2 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
