An Act to Provide for
Defraying Certain Charges and Expenses
of the Public Service of the Province

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Appropriations Act, 2023.

2 The several sums of money hereinafter stated are granted to His Honour the Lieutenant Governor for the purpose of defraying the undermentioned several charges and expenses of the public service for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024:

    Department of Agriculture 45,350,000

    Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage 170,492,000

    Department of Community Services 1,299,913,000

    Department of Economic Development 95,126,000

    Department of Education and Early Childhood Development 1,873,505,000

    Department of Finance and Treasury Board 35,736,000

    Debt Servicing Costs, Department of Finance and

    Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture 16,633,000

3 The several sums shall be paid by the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board, subject to any applicable statutes, out of the moneys that are applicable to the purposes for which the several sums are granted.

4 In addition to borrowing authorized by other enactments, the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board is authorized to borrow, for the purpose of and in accordance with the Finance Act, the sum of $1,750,000,000 for the public service, by any means and from any source, for a term greater than three hundred sixty-five days, either before or after the expiration of the 2023-24 fiscal year.

5 This Act has effect on and after April 1, 2023.
