Explanatory Note
This Bill entitles a volunteer to recover his or her full legal costs where an action that is brought against the volunteer for damage caused falls outside the scope of the immunity from liability provided for the volunteer under the Volunteer Protection Act and the action does not result in a judgment against the volunteer.
An Act to Amend Chapter 14
of the Acts of 2002,
the Volunteer Protection Act
WHEREAS volunteers perform an important function in our society and should be fully compensated for their legal costs where lawsuits that have been brought against them are not successful;
THEREFORE be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows: 1 Chapter 14 of the Acts of 2002, the Volunteer Protection Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 3 the following Section:This page and its contents published by the Office of the Legislative Counsel, Nova Scotia House of Assembly, and © 2003 Crown in right of Nova Scotia.
