An Act to Amend Chapter 14
of the Acts of 2002,
the Volunteer Protection Act

WHEREAS volunteers perform an important function in our society and should be fully compensated for their legal costs where lawsuits that have been brought against them are not successful;

THEREFORE be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 14 of the Acts of 2002, the Volunteer Protection Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 3 the following Section:

3A Where an action that is brought against a volunteer for damages caused by an act or omission of the volunteer on behalf of a non-profit organization does not result in a judgment against the volunteer, the volunteer is entitled to costs on a solicitor-and-client basis.
