Explanatory Note

This Bill

(a) amends the definition of "parishioner";

(b) makes a number of corrections in the amendments contained in Chapter 27 of the Acts of 2002; and

(c) makes several housekeeping changes.

An Act to Amend Chapter 130
of the Acts of 1967,
The Anglican Church Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Clause 2(e) of Chapter 130 of the Acts of 1967, The Anglican Church Act, is repealed and the following clause substituted:

(e) "parishioner" means any member of a congregation;

2 (1) Subsection 10(1) of Chapter 130, as enacted by Chapter 27 of the Acts of 2002, is amended by striking out "or regulation adopted from time to time by the Diocesan Council of the Diocese" in the third, fourth and fifth lines.

(2) Subsection 10(1A) of Chapter 130, as enacted by Chapter 27 of the Acts of 2002, is amended by striking out "or regulation adopted from time to time by the Diocesan Council of the Diocese" in the eighth, ninth and tenth lines.

(3) Subsection 10(1AA) of Chapter 130, as enacted by Chapter 27 of the Acts of 2002, is amended by

(a) striking out the period immediately after clause (f) and substituting a semicolon; and

(b) adding immediately after clause (f) the following clauses:

(g) sue and be sued;

(h) manage the temporalities of the corporation and conduct its affairs.

(4) Subsection 10(3) of Chapter 130, as amended by Chapter 27 of the Acts of 2002, is further amended by striking out "clergyman" in the sixth line and substituting "member of the clergy".

3 Section 11 of Chapter 130 is amended by striking out "he" in the fourth and in the sixth lines and substituting in each case "the Bishop".
