2008-05-15_3391_PP: Added information

MS. DIANA WHALEN: Thank you very much and, Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of privilege. Whereas the minister has not provided the names of who he met with in the Build it Right group, and today I tabled a letter where the group executive had denied meeting with the minister, although they have made repeated requests and would like to, I believe that the Minister of Health Promotion and Protection has misled the House and I would like to ask you to rule again on this point of privilege.

MR. SPEAKER: I will take the new information under advisement and get back to you. Thank you.

2008-05-13_3122_SR: Unparliamentary language

MS. MAUREEN MACDONALD: Mr. Speaker, on a point of order. I think the record should reflect that I said the federal Liberal Government also sent their rebate to a lot of dead people and people in prison and that's a fact that is on the record.

MR. SPEAKER: I don't believe that is a point of order.

The honourable member for Richmond has the floor.

2008-05-13_3090_SR: Misleading the House

SPEAKER'S RULING : Minister Misleading the House in Question Period. (Pt. of privilege by Ms. D. Whalen [Hansard p. 3024, 05/12/08])

MR. SPEAKER: Before we continue, yesterday the honourable member for Halifax Clayton Park rose on a point of privilege. After reviewing the information that was supplied to me and checking with Hansard, I believe what we have is a disagreement between two members.

2008-05-01_2472_SR: Point of order as speech

MR. MICHEL SAMSON: Mr. Speaker, on a point of order. I would find it very unfortunate that in the year of Democracy 250, when we have students visiting here, the House, that they would have to see honourable members, in any way, trying to mislead the House. I would ask if the honourable member for Halifax Fairview, whose Party was pursuing the 8 per cent cut in home heating oil and electricity, which cost the Government of Nova Scotia $75 million in revenue.

2008-04-28_2198_SR: Unparliamentary language

MR. DAVID WILSON (Glace Bay: Mr. Speaker, that's exactly what seniors are facing in this province now. To many of those concerns, ministers from that government including the top banana over there, the Premier - they will come back with. . .

MR. SPEAKER: Order, please.

MR. DAVID WILSON (Glace Bay): Is that unparliamentary?

MR. SPEAKER: It certainly is and I would ask the honourable member to withdraw that comment.

MR. DAVID WILSON (Glace Bay): Okay, I withdraw the banana remark, Mr. Speaker.

2007-12-11_1402_SR: Committee release of documents

MS. MAUREEN MACDONALD: Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of order. During Question Period, the Minister of Immigration stated that the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee improperly released Nominee Program documents which, in his view, should have been concealed. I take great offence to the minister's statement as the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee.

2007-12-05_0926_SR: bill on order paper

HON. ANGUS MACISAAC: Mr. Speaker, I will defer to your ruling. There is a bill before the House on that subject matter and I don't know if it's appropriate for me to respond to the question or whether it's something that should be saved for debate on the bill.

MR. SPEAKER: You may decide to answer in a general fashion, but we can't talk about specifics of any bill while it is before the House.

2025-03-26_1624_SR: Disagreement between members

ELIZABETH SMITH-MCCROSSIN: I rise on a point of order. During Question Period, while answering a question from the member for Sydney-Membertou, the Premier gestured toward the opposition section of the House and said, "Those members didn't support the budget." While this budget has some issues, I did support the budget and would like the Premier's words to be retracted.

THE SPEAKER: Not a point of order. It is a disagreement between members.

2025-03-25_1518_SR: Tabling government documents

LISA LACHANCE: I rise on a point of order. Throughout the debate, various members did refer to a previous debate without tabling documents. The members were for Preston, Pictou East, Cole Harbour, and Halifax Atlantic. I would ask that they table that debate.

THE SPEAKER: I'm going to dismiss that point of order. Okay, so the reality is, and I said this a few weeks ago, if it's government - if it's stated in here, if it's government's paperwork, you do not have to table those. If we had a discussion here, it's in Hansard. You can find it.
