I hereby give notice that on a future day I shall move the adoption of the following resolution:
Whereas the Chignecto Central Regional School Board recently honoured teachers and staff for their 25 years of service to our children and their education; and
Whereas these individuals were thanked and congratulated for their commitment to the youth and to the education programs in this province, with special emphasis on the challenges they face each day; and
Whereas Larry Beardsley of River Hebert Schools; Jane Black of Oxford Elementary School; Marion Burbine of West End Memorial Elementary School; Nancy Burke of Chignecto Family Office, Springhill (Secretary); Beverly Gilbert, West End Memorial Elementary School; Christine Murray, Springhill Elementary Schools; Rick Rhodes, River Hebert Elementary School; Linda Scott, West End Memorial Elementary School; Margaret Stevens, Oxford Regional High School; Gail Walsh, River Hebert District High School; Ellen Wood, Oxford Elementary School; and Douglas Wortman, Oxford Elementary School, were those individuals who received this special recognition;
Therefore be it resolved that all members of this Legislature congratulate all these teachers and staff persons for their many years of service to their community and to this province and wish them many more years of success in their chosen careers.

Whereas the Chignecto Central Regional School Board recently honoured several retiring teachers at a special awards dinner; and

Chapman from Springhill Junior/Senior High School; Carolyn R. Durant from Parrsboro Elementary School; Harry Faulkner from River Hebert
Elementary School; John R. Layton from Springhill Junior/Senior High School; Marilyn M. Mitchell from West End Memorial School; Lee A. Moore from Springhill Junior/Senior High School; and
Whereas these individuals have clearly demonstrated a commitment to the education and development of a generation of this community's children as well as dedication to their professions;

Whereas PanCanadian Petroleum will, tonight, be hosting Nova Scotia's first ever Students' Choice Awards Ceremony at the Halifax Sheraton; and
Whereas the purpose of the PanCanadian Students' Choice Award is to focus attention on public education by highlighting the positive impact which teachers can have in children's lives; and
Whereas PanCanadian's first ever Nova Scotian Student Choice Awards saw students forward 513 teachers' names for consideration by the selection panel;
Therefore be it resolved that the members of this House extend their congratulations to PanCanadian and all of the winners of the 2001 PanCanadian Students' Choice Awards.

I hereby give notice that on a future day I shall move the adoption of the following resolution:
Whereas u-picks and farm markets across the province are great places to buy fresh, locally grown products; and
Whereas more than 60 per cent of food-borne illness cases occur between the months of June and September each year; and
Whereas taking precautions with fruits and vegetables to prevent harmful bacteria, viruses and parasites is simple and easy;
Therefore be it resolved that the members of this House bring forward the message to their constituents about the four components of food safety - CLEAN, COOK, CHILL and SEPARATE - to ensure Nova Scotians keep their families safe this summer season.
