Free Heat-pump Program Act

An Act to Create a Free Heat-pump Program

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Free Heat-pump Program Act.

2 In this Act,

"eligible person" means a person who

(a) owns and is the primary resident of an eligible property; and

(b) has a total annual household income of $100,000 or less; "eligible property" means a property that is connected to the electrical grid and is

(a) a detached home;

(b) a duplex or semi-detached home;

(c) a townhouse;

(d) a condominium; or

(e) a mobile home.

3 Subject to Section 4, the Government shall develop a program to provide free heat pumps to eligible persons who apply under the program.

4 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
