An Act to Establish
Lakes Appreciation Month

WHEREAS lakes and reservoirs are among Nova Scotia's most valuable natural resources;

AND WHEREAS lakes and reservoirs provide drinking water, irrigation, energy, recreation, scenic beauty and habitat for wildlife;

AND WHEREAS these beneficial uses have been of vital importance to Nova Scotia's history, growth and financial health;

AND WHEREAS lakes and reservoirs improve the quality of life for all of Nova Scotia's residents and their importance should not go unnoticed;

AND WHEREAS Nova Scotia recognizes the need to protect these lakes and reservoirs for future generations;

THEREFORE be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Lakes Appreciation Month Act.

2 Throughout the Province, in the year 2023, the month of July shall be kept and observed under the name Lakes Appreciation Month.
