An Act to Make Public
Information Respecting the Need
a Family Practice Registry

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Need a Family Practice Registry Accountability Act.

2 In this Act,

(a) "Minister" means the Minister of Health and Wellness;

(b) "Need a Family Practice Registry" means the Need a Family Practice Registry maintained by the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

3 (1) The Minister shall publish detailed information for the previous month respecting the Need a Family Practice Registry no later than the fifth day of each month.

(2) Information published under subsection (1) must include

(a) the number of persons listed in the Need a Family Practice Registry as needing a family practice;

(b) the number of persons added and the number of persons removed from the Registry;

(c) the number of medical practitioners and the number of nurse practitioners who have accepted patients from the Registry in that month;

(d) the average time between a person being added to the Registry and the person being connected with a practitioner;

(e) the number of persons on the Registry who are connected with a practitioner but do not become patients of that practitioner; and

(f) such other information as the Minister considers in the public interest to publish.

(3) Information published under subsection (1) must include separate information for each health zone and community in the Province.

4 The publication of information under this Act does not derogate from or replace any obligation of the Minister or the Nova Scotia Health Authority in any other enactment to make information public.
