Explanatory Notes

Clause 1 updates a departmental name and ministerial title.

Clause 2 changes the composition of the Nova Scotia Museum's Board of Governors by adding the Chair of the Sherbrooke Restoration Commission as a permanent member.

Clause 3 makes a consequential amendment to the Sherbrooke Restoration Commission Act to update the title of the Commission's Chair and Vice-chair.

An Act to Amend Chapter 7
of the Acts of 2019,
the Nova Scotia Museum Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 2 of Chapter 7 of the Acts of 2019, the Nova Scotia Museum Act, is amended by

(a) adding ", Tourism" immediately after "Culture" in the second line of clause (b); and

(b) adding ", Tourism" immediately after "Culture" in the first line of clause (e).

2 (1) Subsection 5(1) of Chapter 7 is repealed and the following subsection substituted:

    (1) The Board of Governors consists of

    (a) at least four and not more than 12 members appointed by the Governor in Council for a term of not more than three years; and

    (b) the Chair of the Sherbrooke Restoration Commission.

(2) Subsection 5(2) of Chapter 7 is amended by adding "appointed under clause (1)(a)" immediately after "Board" in the first line.

(3) Subsection 5(3) of Chapter 7 is amended by adding "appointed under clause (1)(a)" immediately after "Board" in the first line.

3 Subsection 5(4) of Chapter 425 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Sherbrooke Restoration Commission Act, is amended by striking out "Chairman, a Vice-chairman" in the second line and substituting "Chair, a Vice-chair".
