An Act to Provide for
a Maritime Clinical Health Service Strategy

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Maritime Clinical Health Service Strategy Act.

2 In this Act, "Minister" means the Minister of Health and Wellness.

3 (1) The Minister shall collaborate with the Minister of Health for New Brunswick and the Minister of Health and Wellness for Prince Edward Island to

(a) jointly lobby the federal government for Canada Health Transfer payments based on the demographics of the Maritime Provinces; and

(b) create a maritime health network that provides equitable health-care access to residents of the Maritime Provinces irrespective of provincial borders.

(2) The maritime health network must address seamless access to

(a) acute clinic care;

(b) effective and efficient administration;

(c) emergency health services;

(d) health professional education and licensing;

(e) home care;

(f) integration of information and communication technologies (E-health);

(g) long-term care;

(h) mental health and addictions services;

(i) pharmacare;

(j) prescription monitoring;

(k) primary health care;

(l) public health services; and

(m) virtual care.

4 The Minister, in collaboration with the Minister of Health for New Brunswick and the Minister of Health and Wellness for Prince Edward Island, shall review this Act annually to find further efficiencies and ways to further reduce barriers to health-care access.
