Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing, which is responsible for emergency management under the Act, to respond in a timely manner to applications for disaster financial assistance provided by the Department.

An Act to Amend Chapter 8
of the Acts of 1990,
the Emergency Management Act,
to Provide Rapid Disaster Relief

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 8 of the Acts of 1990, the Emergency Management Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 8 the following Section:

    8A Where as a result of a natural disaster the Department provides financial assistance, the Department must respond to applications for that financial assistance within seventy-two hours.
