An Act Respecting
Relief for Natural Disasters
1 This Act may be cited as the Natural Disasters Relief Act.
2 (1) Subject to Section 3, the Minister responsible for the Office of Emergency Management shall establish and implement a comprehensive natural disaster relief program.
(2) Under the natural disaster relief program, the Government shall provide relief to communities and residents in the Province to cover the costs and damages associated with natural disasters that are not covered by
(a) insurers, as defined in the Insurance Act; or
(3) The Government shall fund the natural disaster relief program through revenue from the Green Fund established under subsection 112O(1) of the Environment Act.
3 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
