Explanatory Note

This Bill establishes permanent Daylight Savings Time upon the other Maritime Provinces doing so.

An Act to Amend Chapter 469
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Time Definition Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 (1) Subsection 2(2) of Chapter 469 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Time Definition Act, is amended by striking out “four” in the first line and substituting “three”.

(2) Subsection 2(3) of Chapter 469 is repealed.

(3) Subsection 2(4) of Chapter 469 is amended by striking out “subsections (2) and (3)” in the first line and substituting “subsection (2)”.

2 (1) Subject to subsection (2), this Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.

(2) This Act is not effective until the provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island have made the same change in the reckoning of time as made by Section 1.
