Explanatory Note

This Bill prohibits the burning of tires in the Province.

An Act to Amend Chapter 1
of the Acts of 1994-95,
the Environment Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1994-95, the Environment Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 111 the following Section:

    111A No person shall burn tires in the Province unless the Minister has caused there to be a full public review which must include consideration of the effect for public health.

2 Chapter 1 is further amended by adding immediately after Section 159A the following Section:

    159B A person who contravenes Section 111A is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of five hundred dollars for each tire burned in the Province.

3 Chapter 56 of the Acts of 2008 is repealed.
