Explanatory Note

This Bill amends, for the purpose of the Children and Family Services Act, the definition of child from a person under 16 years to a person under 18 years of age.

An Act to Amend Chapter 5
of the Acts of 1990,
the Children and Family Services Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Clause 3(1)(e) of Chapter 5 of the Acts of 1990, the Children and Family Services Act, is amended by striking out "sixteen" in the first line and substituting "eighteen".

2 Subsection 14(2) of Chapter 5 is amended by striking out "sixteen" in the first and second lines and substituting "eighteen".

3 Subsection 19(1) of Chapter 5 is amended by striking out "sixteen" in the first line and substituting "eighteen".

4 Subsection 39(10) of Chapter 5 is amended by striking out "sixteen" in the second line and substituting "eighteen".

5 Subsection 48(3) of Chapter 5 is amended by striking out "sixteen" in the fourth line and substituting "eighteen".

6 Clause 67(2)(b) of Chapter 5 is amended by striking out "sixteen" in the first line and substituting "eighteen".

7 Subsection 76(1) of Chapter 5, as amended by Chapter 10 of the Acts of 1996 and Chapter 15 of the Acts of 2005, is further amended by striking out "sixteen" in the second line and substituting "eighteen".

8 Clause 99(1)(e) of Chapter 5 is amended by striking out "sixteen" in the second line and substituting "eighteen".
