Explanatory Note
This Bill permits the operation of a business to assist or participate in the making of beer, wine or cider by another person, sometimes referred to as a U-Brew or U-Vint business.
An Act to Amend Chapter 260
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Liquor Control Act,
to Permit the Operation of Businesses that Assist
Others in the Making of Beer, Wine or Cider
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Chapter 260 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Liquor Control Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 56 the following Section:
(2) A person to whom a permit is issued under subsection (1) may possess and store the ingredients used by another person to produce beer, wine or cider while the beer, wine or cider is being made.
(3) The Governor in Council may make regulations respecting
(a) application for permits referred to in subsection (1);
(b) the operation of businesses that provide assistance or participate in the process of making beer, wine or cider;
(c) facilities for the making of beer, wine or cider.
(4) The exercise by the Governor in Council of the authority contained in subsection (3) is regulations within the meaning of the Regulations Act.
