Explanatory Note

This Bill clarifies that Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations may disclose the name and address of persons with a driver’s licence to the War Amps for the purpose of conducting its Key Tag Service program. It also allows persons to have their information withheld if they so choose.

An Act to Amend Chapter 293
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Motor Vehicle Act,
to Preserve the Key Tag Service
of the War Amps

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the War Amps Key Tag Act.

2 Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Motor Vehicle Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 71 the following Section:

71A (1) The Department may disclose the name and address of every person who is issued a driver's license to The War Amputations of Canada for the purpose of allowing The War Amputations of Canada to conduct its Key Tag Service program.

(2) The disclosure of information pursuant to subsection (1) is subject to such terms and conditions as the Minister considers appropriate.

(3) Where a person requests of the Department that the person's name and address not be disclosed pursuant to subsection (1), the Department shall cease to disclose the person's name and address to The War Amputations of Canada.
