An Act to Amend Chapter 18
of the Acts of 1998,
the Municipal Government Act,
and Chapter 39 of the Acts of 2008,
the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 3 of Chapter 18 of the Acts of 1998, the Municipal Government Act, as amended by Chapter 9 of the Acts of 2000, Chapters 35 and 6 of the Acts of 2001, Chapter 9 of the Acts of 2003, Chapter 40 of the Acts of 2006 and Chapter 36 of the Acts of 2008, is further amended by

(a) striking out the comma in the fourteenth line of clause (r) and substituting "or";

(b) adding "with or without structural deficiencies" immediately after "structure" in the fourteenth line of clause (r);

(c) striking out "or" at the end of subclause (r)(x);

(d) striking out the semicolon at the end of subclause (r)(xi) and substituting ", or"; and

(e) adding immediately after subclause (r)(xi) the following subclause:

(xii) that is in a poor state of hygiene or cleanliness;

2 Subsection 172(1) of Chapter 18, as amended by Chapter 7 of the Acts of 2004, is further amended by adding immediately after clause (ja) the following clause:

(jb) the maintenance and sightliness of property including grounds, lawns, buildings and structures;

3 Section 3 of Chapter 39 of the Acts of 2008, the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter, as amended by Chapter 16 of the Acts of 2010, is further amended by

(a) striking out the comma in the eleventh line of clause (q) and substituting "or";

(b) adding "with or without structural deficiencies" immediately after "structure" in the eleventh line of clause (q);

(c) striking out "or" at the end of subclause (q)(x);

(d) striking out the semicolon at the end of subclause (q)(xi) and substituting ", or"; and

(e) adding immediately after subclause (q)(xi) the following subclause:

(xii) that is in a poor state of hygiene or cleanliness;

4 Subsection 188(1) of Chapter 39 is amended by adding immediately after clause (k) the following clause:

(ka) the maintenance and sightliness of property including grounds, lawns, buildings and structures;
