Explanatory Note

This Bill authorizes the Governor in Council to make regulations prescribing fees for admission to museums and the operation or administration of museums.

An Act to Amend Chapter 315
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Nova Scotia Museum Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 315 of The Revised Statutes, 1989, the Nova Scotia Museum Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 11 the following Section:

12 (1) The Governor in Council may make regulations prescribing fees for admission to museums and other fees the Governor in Council considers incidental to or necessary or advisable for the operation or administration of museums.

(2) A regulation made pursuant to this Section may prescribe different fees for different museums or classes of museum and there may be different regulations for different museums or classes of museum.

(3) The exercise of the authority contained in subsection (1) is regulations within the meaning of the Regulations Act.
