Explanatory Note
This Bill provides for the Province to pay for prescribed expenses related to reasonably necessary medical procedures obtained outside Nova Scotia when the procedure is not available, or not available within a reasonable time, in Nova Scotia and the person undergoing the procedure is required to be outside of the Province for three or more months for the purposes of the procedure
An Act to Amend Chapter 197
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Health Services and Insurance Act
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Chapter 197 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Health Services and Insurance Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 3 the following Section:
(2) The moneys required for the purpose of subsection (1) shall be paid out of moneys appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
2 Subsection 17(2) of Chapter 197, as amended by Chapter 20 of the Acts of 1992, is further amended by adding immediately after clause (b) the following clause:
