Explanatory Note
This Bill repeals the Tourist Accommodations Act and makes consequential amendments to the Assessment Act, the Halifax Regional Municipality Marketing Levy Act, the Occupiers' Liability Act and the Yarmouth Marketing and Promotions Levy Act.
An Act to Repeal Chapter 9
of the Acts of 1994-95,
the Tourist Accommodations Act
1 Chapter 9 of the Acts of 1994-95, the Tourist Accommodations Act, is repealed.
2 Section 2 of Chapter 23 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Assessment Act, as amended by Chapter 19 of the Acts of 1990, Chapter 18 of the Acts of 1998, Chapter 9 of the Acts of 2000, Chapter 15 of the Acts of 2002, Chapter 9 of the Acts of 2005, Chapter 19 of the Acts of 2006 and Chapter 9 of the Acts of 2007, is further amended by
(a) striking out clause (ba) and substituting the following clause:
(b) adding immediately after clause (q) the following clause:
(c) striking out clause (tb) and substituting the following clause:
3 Clause 2(a) of Chapter 51 of the Acts of 2001, the Halifax Regional Municipality Marketing Levy Act, is amended by
(a) striking out "facilities required to be licensed under the Tourist Accommodations Act" in the second, third and fourth lines and substituting "roofed accommodation as defined by the Assessment Act"; and
(b) striking out "facility " in the sixth line and substituting "roofed accommodation".
4 Clause 13(c) of Chapter 27 of the Acts of 1996, the Occupiers' Liability Act, is repealed.
5 Clause 2(a) of Chapter 33 of the Acts of 2005, the Yarmouth Marketing and Promotions Levy Act, is amended by
(a) striking out "facilities required to be licensed under the Tourist Accommodations Act" in the second and third lines and substituting "roofed accommodation as defined by the Assessment Act"; and
(b) striking out "facility" in the fourth line and substituting "roofed accommodation".
6 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
