Explanatory Note
This Bill amends the Disabled Persons' Commission Act to require the Commission to study an Ontario statute relating to accessibility for persons with disabilities and to prepare a report recommending a timetable for development of legislation and implementation of programs.
An Act to Amend Chapter 130
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Disabled Persons' Commission Act
1 This Act may be cited as the Accessibility for Persons' with Disabilities Act.
2 Chapter 130 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Disabled Persons' Commission Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 7 the following Section:
(2) In carrying out the study referred to in subsection (1), the Commission shall consult with such disabilities organizations or associations or such individuals as it considers necessary.
(3) The Commission shall prepare and deliver to the Minister of Community Services a report on the outcome of its study not later than December 31, 2007.
(4) The report referred to in subsection (3) shall contain a recommended timetable for the development of any necessary legislation and its introduction in the Assembly, and for the implementation of any programs.
(5) The moneys required for the purpose of this Section shall be paid out of moneys appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
