Explanatory Notes
Clause 1 corrects an outdated reference.
Clause 2 amends the Rental Property Conversion Act to
(a) provide that notice to the Director of Residential Tenancies of a proposed conversion of a rental property be given by a statutory declaration in the form prescribed in the regulations; and
(b) set the term of an offer to extend a tenancy made under the Act at twelve months from the date of a proposed conversion where the tenancy would otherwise terminate during that period.
Clause 3 adds a regulation-making power to prescribe a form of statutory declaration for notice to the Director of a proposed conversion.
Clause 4 provides that this Act comes into force upon proclamation.
An Act to Amend Chapter 399
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Rental Property Conversion Act
1 Clause 2(a) of Chapter 399 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Rental Property Conversion Act, is amended by striking out "Landlord and Tenant Relations in the Department of Consumer Affairs" in the first, second and third lines and substituting "Residential Tenancies designated pursuant to the Residential Tenancies Act".
2 (1) Clause 4(1)(a) of Chapter 399 is amended by adding "by statutory declaration in the form prescribed in the regulations" immediately after "Director" in the second line.
(2) Clause 4(2)(b) of Chapter 399 is repealed and the following clause substituted:
