Explanatory Note

This Bill prohibits the use of certain biosolids on agricultural lands.

An Act to Amend Chapter 1
of the Acts of 1994-95,
the Environment Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1994-95, the Environment Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 69 the following Section:

69A No person shall knowingly release or permit the release of biosolids, other than animal manure, onto agricultural lands.

2 Subsection 74(1) of Chapter 1 is amended by adding immediately after clause (d) the following clause:

(da) defining "agricultural lands" and "biosolids";

3 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
