Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Employment Support and Income Assistance Act to require the Government to expand availability of assistance under the Career Seek Pilot Project to all persons who are eligible for assistance under that Act.

An Act to Amend Chapter 27
of the Acts of 2000,
the Employment Support and Income Assistance Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 27 of the Acts of 2000, the Employment Support and Income Assistance Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 7 the following Section:

7A (1) Subject to subsection (2), the Government shall, no later than April 1, 2008, ensure that the Career Seek Pilot Project is made available to all persons eligible to receive assistance under this Act by removing the limitation that the program is open to no more than fifty participants each year.

(2) The moneys required for the purpose of subsection (1) shall be paid from moneys appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
