Explanatory Note

This Bill prohibits the export from Nova Scotia of minerals mined in Digby County unless a Nova Scotia benefits plan has been filed with the Minister of Natural Resources.

An Act to Amend Chapter 18
of the Acts of 1990,
the Mineral Resources Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 112 of Chapter 18 of the Acts of 1990, the Mineral Resources Act, is amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsection:

(2A) Notwithstanding subsections (1) and (2), the Minister may not approve the removal from the Province of any ore, mineral or mineral-bearing substance mined in Digby County unless a plan of the benefits to the Province has been filed with the Minister.
