Explanatory Note

This Bill provides that nominations of persons for appointment to the Order of Nova Scotia remain under consideration for ten years but that renominations of those persons are permitted.

An Act to Amend Chapter 9
of the Acts of 2001,
the Order of Nova Scotia Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows: 1 (1) Subsection 16(1) of Chapter 9 of the Acts of 2001, the Order of Nova Scotia Act, is amended by adding "and, subject to subsection 14(3), individuals who have been nominated may be renominated" immediately after "Order" in the last line. (2) Subsection 16(4) of Chapter 9 is amended by adding "within the current year or the immediately preceding ten years" immediately after "it" in the second line.

2 For greater certainty, this Act applies to nominations made pursuant to the Order of Nova Scotia Act before or after the coming into force of this Act.
