Explanatory Notes
Clause 1 amends the definition of "Minister" in the Special Places Protection Act.
Clause 2 changes the composition of the Advisory Committee on the Protection of Special Places. Clause 3 provides that the Minister may formulate a management plan for an ecological site at any time and may seek the assistance of the Advisory Committee when so doing.Clause 4 provides that this Act comes into force on proclamation.
An Act to Amend Chapter 438
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Special Places Protection Act
1 Clause 3(b) of Chapter 438 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Special Places Protection Act, is repealed and the following clause substituted:
2 Subsections 5(2) to (4) of Chapter 438 are repealed and the following subsections substituted:
(a) one person employed by the department for which the Minister has responsibility, who is the chair of the Committee;
(b) three persons who are representative of
(c) up to six other persons who may include persons recognized as experts in fields pertinent to this Act and persons who represent aboriginal interests.
(3) Members of the Committee may be appointed for such terms as the Minister determines.
3 Subsection 14(2) of Chapter 438 is repealed and the following subsection substituted:
4 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
