Explanatory Note

This Bill permits an application or appeal under the Residential Tenancies Act to be commenced on behalf of one or more tenants living in the same residential premises.

An Act to Amend Chapter 401
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Residential Tenancies Act,
to Provide Fair Remedies for Tenants

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 401 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Residential Tenancies Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 17E the following Section:

17F A person who applies to the Director pursuant to Section 13 or appeals a decision of the Director pursuant to Section 17C may make the application or commence an appeal on behalf of one or more tenants living in the same residential premises.
