Explanatory Note
This Bill requires the Minister of Finance to include in the estimates a report setting out the fees charged by Government departments and agencies.
An Act to Require the Reporting of Fees
Charged by Departments and Agencies
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Subsection 7A(2) of Chapter 365 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Provincial Finance Act, as enacted by Chapter 29 of the Acts of 1994, is amended by
(a) striking out "and" at the end of clause (a);
(b) striking out the period at the end of clause (b) and substituting "; and"; and
(c) adding immediately after clause (b) the following clause:
(c) details of all fees to be charged by departments and agencies, including
(i) the purpose and amount of the fees to be charged,
(ii) the total revenue expected from each fee, and
(iii) whether the fee is designed to recover the full costs of providing a service, the partial costs of the service or to generate revenue in excess of the cost of providing the service.
