Explanatory Note
This Bill adds to the Act a requirement that a joint occupational health and safety committee at a public school include at least one parent of a child attending the school, elected by the parents and that, where the school is a school with students in grade ten or a higher grade, the committee also include at least one student elected by the students.
An Act to Amend Chapter 7
of the Acts of 1996,
the Occupational Health and Safety Act
(2A) Where the workplace is a public school within the meaning of the Education Act, the committee shall include at least one parent of a child attending the school, elected by the parents of the children attending the school, and, where the school is a school with students in grade ten or a higher grade, the committee shall also include at least one student attending the school who is in grade ten or a higher grade, elected by the students attending the school.
