Explanatory Note

This Bill changes the name of the North British Society to The Scots: The North British Society.

An Act to Amend Chapter 86
of the Acts of 1858
An Act to Incorporate the North British
Society in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 The long title of Chapter 86 of the Acts of 1858, An Act to Incorporate the North British Society in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is changed to "An Act Respecting The Scots: The North British Society".

2 Chapter 86 is further amended by renumbering Section 1 as 1A and adding immediately before the Section 1A the following Section:

1 This Act may be cited as the The Scots: The North British Society Act.

3 Chapter 86 is further amended by adding immediately after Section 1A the following Section:

1B (1) Notwithstanding Section 1A, on and after the coming into force of this Section, the body corporate referred to in Section 1A shall be known as "The Scots: The North British Society".

(2) A reference in any enactment or document to the North British Society in Halifax, Nova Scotia shall, as regards any subsequent transaction, matter or thing, be read as a reference to The Scots: The North British Society.
