Explanatory Note

This Bill provides for the Provincial Health Council to appoint annually a chair of the Council from among its members. At present, a chair is appointed by the Governor in Council.

An Act to Amend Chapter 13
of the Acts of 1990,
the Health Council Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 7 of Chapter 13 of the Acts of 1990, the Health Council Act, is repealed and the following Section substituted:

7 The Council shall elect, annually, one of its members, appointed pursuant to clause (a) of subsection (1) of Section 4, to chair meetings of the Council.

2 This Act applies upon the expiry of the term of the person appointed pursuant to Section 7 as it read before the coming into force of this Act.
