Explanatory Note
This Bill authorizes the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture to refuse to issue a licence or to cancel or suspend a licence issued pursuant to the Fisheries and Coastal Resources Act if the applicant or licensee has processed, bought, sold, packaged or marketed fish or fish products that were caught in contravention of any Provincial or federal law.

Stop Illegal Fishing
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Chapter 25 of the Acts of 1996, the Fisheries and Coastal Resources Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 116 the following Section:
(a) refuse to issue a licence pursuant to this Act if the applicant; or
(b) cancel or suspend a licence issued pursuant to this Act if the holder of the licence,
has processed, bought, sold, packaged or marketed fish or fish products where the fish were caught in contravention of any Provincial or federal law.
