MS. BECKY KENT (Chairman): Order, please. We are now commencing with the Standing Committee on Human Resources and as is our usual practice, if we could ask members of the committee to introduce themselves for the record.

 

[The committee members introduced themselves.]

 

            MADAM CHAIRMAN: We have a short agenda today for committee members, appointments to agencies, boards and commissions. Perhaps we could get right into our business. Our first appointment will go to Mr. Morton.

 

            MR. JIM MORTON: I move that Leah Hamilton and G. Douglas Vaisey be appointed as members to the Halifax Regional Library Board.

 

            MADAM CHAIRMAN: Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.

 

            The motion is carried.

 

            The next one - Mr. Paris, please.

 

            HON. PERCY PARIS: I move that Keslyn Adams and Marilyn Brannan be appointed to the Council on African-Canadian Education.

 

            MADAM CHAIRMAN: Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.

 

            The motion is carried.

 

            Again, Mr. Paris.

 

            MR. PARIS: I move that Darren Desmond and Andrea Paul be appointed as commissioners to the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission.

 

            MADAM CHAIRMAN: Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.

 

            The motion is carried.

 

            That concludes our committee business for today. Our next meeting date is July 30th from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., appointments to agencies, boards and commissions. Thank you for attending today's meeting.
