Vocational Training Act

WHEREAS we recognize the dignity in our trades;
AND WHEREAS the Ivany report recognizes the importance of improving the productivity and competitiveness of the manufacturing industry as a part of the long-term turnaround plan for Nova Scotia's economy;
3 (1) Within 100 days of the coming into force of this Act, the Minister shall commence a public consultation process to allow persons in the Province to make recommendations for and comment on options with respect to establishing vocational training in the Nova Scotia Community College.
(2) The public consultation process must include no fewer than six and no more than nine public meetings during which students, teachers and parents and representatives of labour, industry and the Nova Scotia Community College may provide recommendations and comments.
4 (1) Within 30 days of the completion of the public consultation process, the Minister shall cause a report to be prepared summarizing the recommendations and comments received during the public consultation process.
