An Act Respecting
Respectful Workplace Week
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
WHEREAS actions or words that make another person feel unsafe, embarrassed, belittled, ashamed, fearful for personal safety or excluded are unacceptable and undermine a person's physical and mental health;
AND WHEREAS organizations with well-developed respectful-workplace practices foster safe and productive work environments;
AND WHEREAS many organizations across Nova Scotia are taking proactive steps to implement or develop respectful workplace policies and practices;
AND WHEREAS the Government of Nova Scotia within its public service and the House of Assembly within its precinct have adopted policies to prevent and address harassment;
AND WHEREAS all members of the House of Assembly are expected to be role models of respectful behaviour, particularly in the workplace
THEREFORE be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 This Act may be cited as the Respectful Workplace Week Act.
2 Throughout the Province in each and every year, the week commencing with the first Sunday in November shall be kept and observed under the name of Respectful Workplace Week.
