Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the Minister of Community Services to establish a restorative-justice diversion program for children within one year of the coming into force of this Act.

An Act to Amend Chapter 5
of the Acts of 1990,
the Children and Family Services Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 5 of the Acts of 1990, the Children and Family Services Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 16 the following Section:

16A (1) Within one year after the coming into force of this Section but subject to subsection (2), the Minister shall establish a restorative-justice diversion program for children.

(2) The moneys required for the purpose of this Section shall be paid out of moneys appropriated by the Legislature for that purpose.
