An Act to Provide for the Construction
and Maintenance of Highways
and Other Transportation Links

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Highway Construction and Maintenance Act.

2 In this Act, "highway" means highway as defined in the Motor Vehicle Act.

3 Subject to Section 4, in each fiscal year commencing with the 1999-2000 fiscal year, the Department of Transportation and Public Works shall spend an amount at least equal to the gross amount of revenues received from licences and permits issued pursuant to the Motor Vehicle Act and the gross amount of revenue received pursuant to Part I of the Revenue Act in the preceding fiscal year on the construction and maintenance of highways and other transportation links.

4 The sums required for the purpose of this Act shall be paid out of money appropriated by the Legislature for that purpose.
