2012-10-25_2487_SS: Petitions Must Contain an Ask

MR. SPEAKER: I would remind honourable members in the House of Assembly that when doing petitions and tabling petitions in the House of Assembly, there must be an ask of either the government or an ask of the House of Assembly. I will review a couple of those petitions that were just tabled to see if they are in compliance with the Rules of the House of Assembly, and I will rule on them in the morning. Thank you.

2012-10-25_2553_SR: Comments on Select Committee for Boundary Review Not a Point of Order

HON. MICHEL SAMSON: Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of order. During Question Period, the Premier made comments with regards to the work of the Select Committee for selecting the boundary review commission. In his comments, the Premier seemed to indicate that by supporting a 25 per cent variance somehow the PC Party or anyone else was, in essence, working towards eliminating Acadian representation.

2012-05-17_2439_PO: Tabling of Document Quoted in QP

HON. CHRISTOPHER D'ENTREMONT: Madam Speaker, on a point of order. During questioning the Minister of Community Services quoted an e-mail. I know that we've been very apt to provide those e-mails as they're quoting from them, so I was wondering if she could table that before the end of this session.

MADAM SPEAKER: My understanding, or my perspective is that she did not quote it, she referenced an e-mail and she paraphrased her thoughts on the e-mail. I will rule that one out of order.

2012-05-17_2404_SR: Online Petitions

HON. STEPHEN MCNEIL: Madam Speaker, I'm pleased to be able to rise today and present a petition, which the operative clause is:

"THEREFORE, your petitioners call upon the Nova Scotia House of Assembly to use its powers over the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities, the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (UARB) to deny any General Rate Application presented by NSPI requesting a rate increase in 2013, 2014 and 2015."

Madam Speaker, there are over 28,000 Nova Scotians on this on-line petition that I would like to table.

2012-05-15_2273_PO: Retraction of Comments

HON. CHRISTOPHER D'ENTREMONT: Madam Speaker, on a point of order. During questioning, when the member for Victoria-The Lakes was asking questions, the Deputy Premier did say a few words there - not that I'm going to repeat them, but if he would mind maybe retracting them and we'll move on. (Interruptions)

Well, do you want me to say them? He said the member for Victoria-The Lakes had an empty head and I think that was inappropriate in this House. I thought that maybe it should require an apology.

2012-05-15_2281_SS: Sharing Late Debate Within Caucus

MS. DIANA WHALEN: Madam Speaker, I will be sharing my time, the 10 minutes, with my colleague, the member for Kings West.

MADAM SPEAKER: I'm sorry?

MR. LEO GLAVINE: At the end, at the end.

MS. WHALEN: May I do that?

MADAM SPEAKER: I'm just going to ask the Clerk for a calling on that - I'm not familiar.

MS. WHALEN: If not, I'm going to speak. (Interruption)

MADAM SPEAKER: Just to be clear, in debate, if you sit down during your time, the next rotation would go to the other Parties. So if that's your choice, so be it.

2012-04-26_1132_SS: Oral Questions: Personal Questions

PREM. - HOME CARE: HOURS - REDUCTION

MR. ALLAN MACMASTER: Mr. Speaker, my question is for the Premier. I was very surprised to learn recently that home care hours have been decreased over the past few months. Caregivers feel buried in paperwork and are given only a half hour to help our seniors. Less time means seniors get less care.

My question to the Premier is, when was the last time the Premier bathed twice per week and ate three-day-old macaroni?
