2012-12-06_5092_PO: Extending House Hours

HON. FRANK CORBETT: Mr. Speaker, on a point of order, I just want to know, we had earlier arranged for the Lieutenant Governor to arrive, I wonder with unanimous consent of the House can we extend the hours of the House by two hours? (Interruption) If it was to recess at 6:00 p.m. we would go to 8:00 p.m.

MR. SPEAKER: The motion is - and by the way, that is a point of order - well because it deals with the Rules of the Assembly.

2012-11-21_4140_SS: Unparliamentary Language

MS. LENORE ZANN: Those numbers are fiction. The honourable member has been given false information, I'm sorry, from his researchers.

Here are some real facts . . .

MADAM SPEAKER: Order please. Order. The assertion of false information is unparliamentary, could you please retract that? The honourable member for Truro-Bible Hill is asked to retract those remarks.

MS. ZANN: Okay, I said he was given false information, but I will retract that if that's unparliamentary language.

2012-11-20_3936_SS: Strangers: Decorum

MR. SPEAKER. We welcome our guests to the gallery and hope they enjoy this afternoon's proceedings.

Before you read your resolution, I'd like to remind our guests in the galleries that, under the Rules of the House, they are not allowed to show either approval or disapproval of anything that happens here on the floor during our proceedings.

2012-11-19_3882_SR: Petitions

HON. CHRISTOPHER D'ENTREMONT: Mr. Speaker, I beg leave to table a petition on behalf of the signatories from the Molega Lake area. The operative clause reads:

"We as a group living within the Molega Lake Lot Owners/Forest Point Loop Lot Owners Society/Handley Point Lot Owners are thoroughly disappointed at the lack of maintenance of the above road (Labelle from the start of the gravel portion to the Handley Point Road)."

Mr. Speaker, it is signed by 187 residents, and I too have affixed my signature.

2012-11-15_3810_SS: Late Debate

HON. KEITH COLWELL: I'm going to share my time with the member for Glace Bay.

MR. SPEAKER: I'm sorry, that can't be done.

MR. COLWELL: Can't be done? Okay, not a problem.

MR. SPEAKER: You'll have to take the 10 minutes or as long as you like, and then we'll move on.

...[text omitted]

MR. SPEAKER: I wonder if I could just interrupt the member for a second. If you want to go five minutes, we can then go 10 and then back to you for five at the end.

2012-11-06_3221_PP: Breach of Rules of House in Committe

HON. MICHEL SAMSON: Mr. Speaker, on a point of privilege. Once again, this morning, we witnessed an example of this majority NDP Government ignoring the rules and traditions of this House. This morning at the Law Amendments Committee the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage sat as a voting member of the committee examining Bill No. 94, the House of Assembly Act, dealing with the new proposed electoral boundaries for Nova Scotia.
