Explanatory Note

This Bill prohibits the burning of tires in the Province.

An Act to Amend Chapter 1
of the Acts of 1994-95,
the Environment Act, to Prohibit
the Burning of Tires in Nova Scotia

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1994-95, the Environment Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 73 the following Section:

73A (1) No person shall burn tires in the Province.

(2) A person who contravenes subsection (1) is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine of five hundred dollars for each tire burned in the Province.
