Explanatory Note

This Bill requires the Governor in Council to make regulations providing for an affirmative action program respecting the public tendering process for the purchase and acquisition or disposal of Government supplies and assets.

An Act to Amend Chapter 188
of the Revised Statutes, 1989
the Government Purchases Act

1 (1) Section 9 of Chapter 188 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Government Purchases Act, as enacted by Chapter 4 of the Acts of 1992, is amended by adding immediately after subsection (3) the following subsection:

(3A) Within six months of the coming into force of this subsection, the Governor in Council shall make regulations pursuant to clause (3)(c).

(2) Subsection 9(4) of Chapter 188, as enacted by Chapter 4, is amended by adding "or (3A)" immediately after "(3)" in the second line.
