Explanatory Note
This Bill extends the moratorium on exploration or drilling for or the production,
conservation, processing or transportation of petroleum in the area of Georges Bank from
January 1, 2000, to January 1, 2010.
An Act to Amend Chapter 3
of the Acts of 1987, the Canada-Nova Scotia
Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord
Implementation (Nova Scotia) Act
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Section 134A of Chapter 3 of the Acts of 1987, the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore
Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation (Nova Scotia) Act, as enacted by Chapter 56 of the
Acts of 1988, is amended by striking out "2000" wherever it appears and substituting in each
case "2010".
2 (1) Subsection 134B(1) of Chapter 3, as enacted by Chapter 56, is amended by
striking out "1998" in the last line and substituting "2008".
(2) Subsection 134B(5) of Chapter 3, as enacted by Chapter 56, is amended by
striking out "1999" in the last line and substituting "2009".
3 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and
declares by proclamation.
