The Honourable Mark Furey was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly as MLA for Lunenburg West in 2013 and was re-elected in 2017.
He has served as Attorney General, Minister of Justice, Minister of Labour Relations, Provincial Secretary, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Minister of Business, Minister of Service Nova Scotia, Minister responsible for Tourism Nova Scotia, and as minister responsible for various acts which normally fall under the purview of the justice portfolio.
Prior to becoming an MLA, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 32 years. During his career in law enforcement, he served in detachments around Nova Scotia, including Halifax, Cape Breton, and the South Shore, where he retired as District Commander for Lunenburg County. He also fulfilled policing roles in Haiti and Kosovo.
