STANDING COMMITTEE ON VETERANS AFFAIRS

8:15 A.M.

CHAIRMAN

Mr. Harold Theriault

MR. CHAIRMAN: We can bring this meeting to order, please. We haven't much time, and I thank you for coming. I know that for the last month and a half, Kim has been trying to get us here for at least two minutes. I know we've all been busy. I said the best thing you can do, Kim, maybe for me is do it at four or five o'clock in the morning. So anyway, thanks for coming.

What we have on the agenda is just the annual report; hopefully, you've all received it. What we need to do today is just sign off and we'll have it sent to the Speaker's Office and it will be tabled at our next meeting.

We do have to set a time for our next meeting, and right now we have topics from the PC caucus for witnesses and we have one or two from the NDP caucus, but nothing submitted yet from the Liberal caucus. So whether we want to set an agenda for the next meeting is up to us, I guess, here this morning or we could wait and set another agenda, probably on the 8th of January, and see who we want for witnesses at that time.

The first thing we have to do now is send this around to the table, if everyone agrees, and sign off on the annual report.

Does everyone agree?

SOME HON. MEMBERS: Agreed.

MR. CHAIRMAN: Thank you.

MR. MANNING MACDONALD: Perhaps, Mr. Chairman, the Liberal caucus at our next caucus meeting can canvass that around and see what topics we'd like to put on the agenda and report back to you at the next meeting - okay? It looks like you've got a lot to keep you busy for a while anyway.

MR. CHAIRMAN: Yes. Does everyone agree with that, that we set an agenda for topics on January 8th? Can we set that date for January 8th? That's on a Thursday - it's usually the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m.

MR. MANNING MACDONALD: The earlier the better on Thursdays, and get out of here.

MR. CHAIRMAN: All agree? (Interruption) If you want to go five, I'll go five.

MR. KEITH BAIN: So our next meeting is just going to be agenda planning for that, too?

MR. CHAIRMAN: It will be agenda planning, yes. So any more witnesses you want to put on to the list, go ahead, you've got until January 8th.

The motion is to adjourn.

Thank you.

(The meeting adjourned at 8:20 a.m.)
